We have recieved a Surace pro 5 from a customer complaining that the system does not charge any more. and he is not getting the white light on the charger. So we we have identified that this is a no charge issue rather than a no power issue as we can see the battery logo when trying to power on the system.
First step we need to take is removal of the screen. Screen remvoals are an annoying task just to get to the motherboard. Not sure why they do not use magnets instead of glue. But we have the motherboard out.
We testing the main rail and in fact the 12V line is shorted! Causing no charge.Diodes bridges and capacitors needed to be replaced in order to get this to work.
And finally reassembly and testing. The no charge issue is not a simple repair and can be very time consuming.
