A NEW PRE-ALPHA GAMEPLAY TRAILER! GET THE FIRST OFFICIAL LOOK AT THE SURGE 2!

After the success of last year’s sci-fi Action RPG The Surge, Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13 are ready to showcase the very first gameplay footage of The Surge 2, releasing 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The trailer showcases the new and enigmatic Park sector, located in the middle of a city ravaged by the events of The Surge. Devious mercenaries called The Hunters to roam the artificial, man-made forest, searching for a powerful creature. Beware their traps, their cunning cloaking devices, and most of all, the out-of-control former park guardians.
The Surge 2 keeps what fans and critics loved about the original – hardcore combat utilizing a unique, dynamic limb targeting system and deep character progression – while also improving the formula. The Surge 2 takes place in a brand new environment: a sprawling, devastated city with a larger and more ambitious level design, made possible by Deck13’s upgraded and improved FLEDGE engine. Combat is more brutal and tactical than ever, with more advanced dodging, directional parrying, and unique AI behaviors. In addition, more abilities, weapons, implants, and drones give players a vast arsenal to build their character with, in their fight against the array of diverse new enemies and bosses.
The Surge 2 will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019.
BECOME THE CUTTING EDGE IN THE SURGE WITH NEW, FREE WEAPONS AND ARMOR DLC

Battle your way to CREO’s most advanced prototypes and equip them today!
Dystopian Action RPG The Surge is preparing to unleash its latest free DLC for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players: the Cutting Edge Pack as good news always comes in pairs, the game and all of its DLCs are up to 75% off on Steam, PlayStation Europe and Xbox One.
The Cutting Edge Pack DLC will grant 3 new armor sets providing a variety of useful boons when worn in their entirety, 3 devastating weapons, as well as 3 brand new jumpsuit
- The ANGEL was originally designed for operation in the harsh vacuum of space, some of the most inhospitable conditions known to man, and bestows faster attack speeds, better energy gain, and harder impacts on CODENAME weapons.
- The ASCLEPIUS was meant to assist army veterans in gaining a new lease on life, but its regenerative powers will work well enough for you too.
- The NANO WARD gear uses bleeding-edge technology to give your blocks some serious explosive power – if you can time them right.
On the more offensive side, CREO’s new weapons are the latest technology, prototypes for blue-sky projects that may never see the light of day – and certainly haven’t been safety-tested!
- Experiment 44H, known as the Dark Star, never saw full production due to the madness of its creator leading to him sabotaging the whole project before more than one could be made. Its unique containment field will wreak havoc on enemies.
- The Engelhart is a boost tool that uses state-of-the-art technology to become searing hot anytime, anywhere. As potentially dangerous to the wielder as their enemies, it requires skill and practice to use effectively.
- The BioN J-1, codenamed Last Aid, is quite literally a surgical tool, originally designed for use in medical hospitals. After an unfortunate incident with a rogue doctor, it became known as a tool of carnage.
Once the DLC is installed you will find six fierce new enemies in Abandoned Production, Executive Forum, and Nucleus that must be defeated to acquire the new items.

UNLEASH FIRE AND ICE IN THE SURGE WITH THE NEW, FREE WEAPON DLC

Dystopian action RPG The Surge is releasing today its first post-release DLC for free, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players. Deck13’s hardcore sci-fi adventure has you fighting for survival in a facility ruined by a mysterious event called the Surge. Utilize your powerful exo-suit as you sever limbs, parts, and weaponry from your enemies using The Surge’s unique targeting mechanics and tight combat system. This free DLC brings 10 new weapons to the game – 5 of fire and 5 of ice – and you will have to fight for them.
Representing fire are the new MG-branded weapons. These high-tech military weapons are deadlier versions of CREO’s riot control products, capable of high physical damage with low elemental damage. Repeatedly attacking humanoid enemies with these red-hot blades will create a powerful fire-based explosion.
Also available in this DLC, the ice weapons cometh! These are CREO’s space travel testing tools, concepts, and prototypes constructed in their very own R&D labs. These weapons were created to test materials in the cold darkness of space and can harness extremely low temperatures. They are not designed for combat, however, so they have low physical damage but high elemental damage. Wielding these weapons provide a passive bonus to health.
Once the DLC is installed, consult the security memo and the CREO newsletter added to your inventory’s Organizer, and use their clues to locate these 10 deadly weapons and tear them from the limbs of your foes!
This is just the beginning – the Surge’s upcoming Premium DLC ‘A Walk in the Park’ releases later this year. Players will be able to get new weapons, fight new enemies, and explore an abandoned amusement park. This will also include a new free content update that improves the end-game experience for high-level players.
The Surge’s Fire and Ice Weapon Pack is now available (for free) on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One, and PC. You can also grab a copy of The Surge at 50% off during Steam’s Midweek Madness this week!

THE SURGE CELEBRATES ITS RELEASE WITH AN ACTION-PACKED LAUNCH TRAILER

Hardcore action RPG The Surge is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC! Battle through a world gone mad as Warren, on his first day of work at CREO – a megacorporation that a devastating catastrophe has hit. Today, prepare for The Surge’s brutal combat and dystopian setting with the action-packed Launch Trailer.
Balancing risk and reward is at the heart of The Surge, as the unique loot system gives you greater control over what you claim from defeated enemies. In visceral combat, individually target specific body parts, damaging them with a combination of vertical and horizontal attacks before slicing the part off entirely – and what you dismember directly determines what piece of equipment you loot. When approaching an enemy, you face a difficult decision: do you target an unarmored body part for a shorter fight, or risk a lengthier, damaging battle for a chance at slicing off a shiny new piece of equipment?
If you want the best loot you’ll need to take on the most difficult enemies, so positioning and speed are vital. Use your exo-enhanced dodges, blocks, ducks, and jumps to avoid attacks while managing stamina, ensuring you’re always in the right place to strike the limb you want or to avoid a potentially damning blow. The rules of combat apply to both you and your enemy: get hit in an unarmored limb, and you’ll go down faster. Take advantage of the enemy’s weaknesses while balancing your own, and you’ll walk away with their strengths!
The Surge is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One, and PC. Visit the official website for more info.
THE SURGE'S BRUTAL COMBAT AND UNIQUE SETTING ARE EXPLORED IN THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES TRAILER

Hardcore Action RPG The Surge comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 16, 2017. Go behind the scenes in today’s trailer, as the Deck13 team discuss how they created the game’s brutal combat and unique sci-fi setting.
Delve into The Surge’s industrial, near-future Earth setting, which tackles environmental destruction, corporatism, and misuse of technology relevant to our world. Taking control of the exo-suited Warren, players will explore rich, secret-filled environments and venture deep into the heart of tech company CREO’s devastated facility – all while battling crazed employees with fried cranial implants and robots that went haywire.
Using the limb-based targeting system, players can exploit enemies’ weaknesses – though as Deck13’s Thorsten Lange states, “the same rules apply for the enemies.” Positioning is paramount, and even the slightest misstep can end in death. Warren isn’t an “overpowered superhero”, and combat animations were given credibility through extensive motion capture sessions with a stuntman, resulting in combat that feels weighty and satisfying.
Prepare for The Surge, coming May 16 to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One, and PC. Visit the official website for more info.
THE SURGE SHOWCASES ITS HARDCORE ACTION-RPG COMBAT IN A NEW COMBAT TRAILER

prepare for The Surge on May 16
Deck13’s upcoming hardcore Action-RPG The Surge comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 16, 2017. Today’s Combat Trailer challenges you to survive the deadly CREO facility, making use of The Surge’s fast, technical combat system.
As showcased in the Target, Loot & Equip Trailer, make use of vertical and horizontal attacks, as well as strike power, to target and dismember specific limbs, so you can loot what you cut. Looting upgrades for your exo-suit is key to progression, and surviving challenging physically based combat situations is a matter of skill.
Positioning and speed are vital, so make use of your exo-enhanced dodges, blocks, ducks, and jumps to avoid attacks while managing stamina, ensuring you’re always in the right place to strike the limb you want or to avoid a potentially damning blow. The rules of combat apply to both you, and your enemy: get hit in an unarmored limb, and you’ll go down faster. Take advantage of the enemy’s weaknesses while balancing your own, and you’ll walk away with his strengths.
But you’re not alone. Throughout your journey, you’ll be assisted by your industrial drone, with abilities once used for CREO’s industrial needs now manipulated into a fighting machine. Shield yourself, or Burn, knock down, pull, and blast enemies at your will as you continue to fight in melee.

SCI-FI ACTION RPG THE SURGE UNVEILS 14MIN OF UNCUT GAMEPLAY COMMENTED ON BY THE DEVELOPERS

An upcoming sci-fi action RPG The Surge today reveals 14 minutes of gameplay with commentary from Deck13 Game Designer Adam Hetenyi. Explore the dystopian environments in CREO’s mysterious industrial and RND complex, the Abandoned Laboratories.
Fitted with an industrial exoskeleton, you must fight your way through CREO, equipping the spoils of combat to your suit. Armor and weapons are looted from enemies after duels, in which you will take advantage of The Surge’s unique limb-targeting system to attack and cut off parts of the enemy you want to equip or craft.
Targeting a part of the enemy which is armored will deal less damage, but you will earn the opportunity to deal a finishing blow that will cut off the limb intact, allowing you to loot the spoils, gain blueprints, and tech-scrap used to level up your exoskeleton.
The Surge features vertical and horizontal attacks, which are used in combination with parry’s, ducks, and jumps as well as a boosted dodge – courtesy of your exoskeleton – culminating in swift, snappy, precise combat situations unlike anything experienced before.
At CREO, you will meet survivors who need help or who can offer assistance. Accepting missions can yield extra rewards, but you will have to balance that against your desire to go deeper into the complex, as the stakes grow ever higher – once dropped, your tech scrap will diminish over time.
Face the dangers of CREO and set your challenges. Accept missions, learn more about CREO’s history and lore, and fight the various mini-bosses scattered throughout the environment, or play it safe and struggle to survive – it’s up to you.
The Surge sliced its way onto PS4, Xbox One, and PC in May 2017.
THE SURGE'S NEW TRAILER EXPLORES A BAD DAY AT THE OFFICE

Deck 13’s new hardcore action RPG, The Surge, today unveils a CGI trailer exploring Warren’s first day on the job at CREO, the megacorporation on a mission to save a dystopian world (pessimistic vision of our future) from itself.
Freshly recruited as an augmented worker, Warren’s first day coincides with a catastrophic event deep inside CREO, during the routine surgical operation meant to graft, through flesh and bone, the exo-suit required for the company’s employees. This disastrous event marks the first in a series of brutal events, turning this first day at CREO into a hellish nightmare of robots gone haywire, crazed employees with fried cranial implants, and artificial intelligence all wanting Warren dead.
Now equipped with a state-of-the-art exoskeleton, you’ll have to improvise to survive – tools manipulated by CREO workers, while not originally meant for combat, make for effective lethal weapons. The equipment pieces compatible with your exo-suit will make you faster, stronger, and sturdier. During the battle, target specific limbs of your enemies, slice them, and retrieve the powerful attached equipment to improve and power up your suit, allowing you to delve deeper into the CREO complex and attempt to put an end to the madness initiated by the Surge.
Please make the most of your exo-suit, armor, and almost limitless armament combinations to survive CREO when The Surge sliced its way onto PS4, Xbox One, and PC in May 2017.
More information to come about The Surge on February 1-2 at « le What’s Next de Focus », the annual Parisian event where the publisher showcases its titles in production to the international press.
THE SURGE: 4 MINUTES OF GAMEPLAY OF THE UPCOMING ACTION RPG FROM DECK 13

Have a nice day at CREO Industries!
Deck 13’s new hardcore action RPG The Surge today unveils a few minutes of unedited gameplay, showing the visceral, uncompromising combat, the limb-cutting system, and a few of the brutal enemies prowling the dysfunctional CREO Complex.
While some of the earlier enemies encountered while exploring the complex – namely, your former fellow workers – have erratic behavior and may be defeated easily if you are not reckless, others are much more ‘combat-ready’, and will hunt you down relentlessly.
Result of unspoken experiments, volatile prototypes built from secret nano-technology, or simply efficient death machines built for maintaining security in high-risk environments, these enemies leave no room for mistakes during combat. The slightest misstep, or moment of hesitation, will certainly mean death for you. However, these enemies wear some of the best equipment, weapons, and implants you can claim for your use. You’ll have to decide if you wish to secure a victory, attack their weak spots, or make your life a bit harder and aim for their armored parts, hoping to recover this precious equipment that will make you stronger, faster, and tougher.
Balance the need for better equipment versus your survival… but remember, you’ll need to power yourself up when you inevitably face the world’s bosses, and that will put your skill to the test!
Please make the most of your exo-suit, armors, and almost limitless armament combinations to survive CREO when The Surge slices its way onto PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017.
MINI-BOSSES OF VISCERAL ACTION-RPG THE SURGE REVEALED IN NEW SCREENSHOTS

Deck 13’s new hardcore action RPG The Surge today unveils some of the game’s mini-bosses to prowl the hallways of overrun industrial complex CREO. From CREO’s elite security forces to malfunctioning industrial machinery, these enemies make up just a few of the dangers facing Warren throughout the dangerous environments of The Surge.
Led by a billionaire philanthropist, a project developed by CREO – a mysterious industrial and R&D megacorporation – designed primarily to reverse the effects of climate change on the planet is just beginning to take shape as something ominous.
Although most dangers in The Surge were not initially designed for combat, CREO’s security forces exist to maintain order within the complex. CREO’s ‘robot dog’ is a leaping quadruped designed to track down and kill any intrusions. As with most threats in The Surge, it has a weakness – although heavily armored, players can hit vulnerable places to take it down and loot it, faster.
The Echelon 9 security forces, armed with anti-personnel combat gear, are armored in the GOLIATH-class armor making them extremely fast and robust. Although contrary to CREO’s image as a planet-saving company, CREO’s internal security forces’ primary goal is to protect CREO from outside interference, as the stakes are high.
One of the many malfunctioning industrial machines throughout CREO, the Smelter was designed to be impervious to tampering, making it extremely difficult to shut down. With ore-smashing gripper teeth and coolant forcing it to vent gasses to keep it stable, you’ll have to attack its most vulnerable inner workings at the right time to deactivate it.
You will have to make the most of your newly installed exo-suit, armors, and almost limitless armament combinations to survive CREO when The Surge sliced its way onto consoles for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017.
SCI-FI ACTION RPG THE SURGE SHOWS OFF CREO'S MODULAR EXO-ARMOR

Deck13’s upcoming sci-fi action RPG The Surge today reveals the industrial armor sets of international corporation CREO, a company that set out to save the world. Set on a dying Earth in a not-so-distant future, something went very wrong inside CREO, and you, as a new employee find yourself trapped in a sector of the company overrun by malfunctioning drones, robots, and security personnel.
The LIQUIDATOR, featured in the first screenshot, is fitted with industrial attachments for use in areas prone to hazardous material spillage. Built around the slogan ‘quality protective gear for the safest workplace’, the Liquidator offers super-human resistance to radiation, fire, and toxic spills, with mobility aided by the exoskeleton.
The second screenshot features CREO’s PROTEUS medium physical protection armor set. An experimental set equipping certain of CREO’s security personnel, the PROTEUS is an advanced and lightweight armor granting a small health regeneration effect. It also only needs medium core power cost allowing for a little extra juice for implants.
This last screenshot features a mix of armor sets. LYNX was developed for workers requiring speed, flexibility, and precision. Far from a standard issue, few CREO workers would benefit from its inherent advancements in hydraulics. It features low core power cost, but this comes at the cost of physical and elemental protection against radiation and other environmental hazards. We also see elements of MG GORGON and BLACK CERBERUS armor, designed for heavy security and riot control actions.
Each item in The Surge serves a purpose for CREO, often originally separate from combat. Be it industrial, manufacturing, lifting, or handling hazardous materials, or on-site security, the player will cut off and equip thousands of combinations of items salvaged in battle.
The Surge will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017.
THE SURGE: WATCH 15 MINUTES OF UPCOMING VISCERAL ACTION RPG

Fitted with an advanced CREO exo-suit, balancing your core power against your implants and exo-suit upgrades will allow you to specialize in a huge variety of combat styles, thanks to the almost limitless combinations of addons and dozens of make-shift weapons salvaged from the industrial complex. Finely tune your gear to match your playstyle, and to best suit the challenge ahead. The Metroidvanian levels open up as your core power increases, allowing you to over-charge doors previously too strong for your suit to damage and opening new pathways for you to explore. The CREO facility is vast, and if you want to find and craft the best equipment and weapons, you must search every area for secrets and hidden items.
The Surge features innovative combat mechanics, allowing you to target individual limbs and dismember the exo-suit add-on or weapon you want to acquire. Collecting tech-scrap and blueprints, you will be able to return to the Operation Center to level up and craft new exo-suit addons and weapons salvaged throughout the level. The most powerful of these can be acquired from the world’s gigantic, industrial bosses. Most of what you encounter in The Surge was never originally designed to kill you, and most of the items you loot and craft were never meant for combat. However, the combined strength of the exo-suit and near-future technology of CREO means that anything from fork-lifting addons to laser cutters can be used as lethal weapons for diving deeper into the facility.
Find out what it takes to meld man and machine when The Surge releases in 2017.

THE SURGE: DISCOVER MORE ENEMIES IN NEW SCREENSHOTS
The Surge is the new sci-fi Action RPG from developer Deck 13, set shortly. Play as a CREO factory employee Warren, equipped with a highly advanced mechanical exoskeleton designed to assist in heavy industrial labor. Start your journey as a new CREO applicant, in a massive international company dedicated to repairing the atmosphere and addressing climate control. Soon, danger rears its ugly head, and you will have to upgrade your exoskeleton to fight and survive.
The Surge’s combat system is fast-paced, tactical, and brutal, with an innovative limb targeting system enabling you to attack and cut off specific limbs, and farming materials to craft upgrades for your exo-suit. Some enemies will have less armor on their legs or their arms, making for an easy kill, but poor loot! You have to decide if you want to go for the easy kill, or instead opt for modules and crafting materials that will give you a combative edge.
The screenshots revealed today show off some of the security forces you’ll be facing in your adventure. They use the same exo-suit technology as you but have tools built for combat, making them incredibly deadly foes. In The Surge, you will not just be facing opponents your size; towering mechanical enemies armed to the teeth are ready to face you.
Become man and machine when The Surge releases in 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
